Yesterday, Papa Hen was in camper heaven at an RV salvage store north of Denver. The mission was to find a window to replace the cracked back window on our camper, Little Red. We drove far, got lost, gawked at the Platte River, now overflowing its regular path, and finally arrived. We were happily surprised to find another Cardinal Travel Trailer parked in the lot and parked right behind this older and wider model. Given permission by a salesperson to peek inside, we couldn't resist.
Then we proceeded with the mission at hand: an aluminum window approximately 58 X 18 inches. The salesperson took us into a garage. Outside and in, it must have contained a thousand old RV windows.
All shapes and sizes.
Papa Hen had the patience to look and look until he found the right window. I wandered. Wandering brought me to this little gem of a camper. I asked a clerk in the store about it and he made it very clear that it is not for sale. No mind, we love our Little Red.
And Papa Hen is happily home now, replacing the old window with the new window while listening to the chickens squawk.
Here's the old window.
And working on the new one.
