How Do Chickens Get Well Soon?

One sick chicken.
It is our first time coping with such a situation and we have lots to learn.  This morning Fitz slowly walked out of the coop and barely ate any of the chicken feed that she typically bullies the others away from.  Then she stood in the corner and watched while scratch was tossed in the coop.  The other three girls ran to it and pecked away.  Fitz was stoic.  She was calm and gentle when the Mr. and I inspected her private chicken "areas" and noticed they look a little swollen and the feathers are coming out.

One phonecall made and we scheduled an afternoon appointment with Mr. Chicken Doctor.  While waiting for the appointment, she lethargically dragged her little five pound body into the coop and lay herself down in a nesting box.  We thought she might never come out, but about an hour later she did, and had laid an egg.  What?  But the egg was a little pointier than normal and the exterior felt like fine-grained sand paper, not smooth like they normally are.  Later she laid another jelly-ish egg.  I'll be bringing them with us to Mr. Chicken Doctor.

To be continued...
