How Do Chickens Get Well Soon, part 2

Here's Fitz, queen of the coop, feeling much better after visiting the doctor.
Here's what Mr. Chicken Doctor said: Fitz is at the peak of her egg laying and needs more calcium.  Basically, her insides were not doing what she needs them to do because her calcium intake needs to be higher.  If you read this blog, you know that she lays some BIG eggs that probably require lots more calcium than Bill's smaller eggs. We already add oyster shells to her diet (it is in 3 locations in the coop) and that's one of the best things for laying eggs with strong shells.  The trouble is getting the chickens to eat it since it doesn't taste as yummy as other foods.  In addition, we will give all four birds spinach and arugula because those leafy greens contain a lot of calcium.

Fitz is back in the coop with her chicken family now and has already chased both Lou and Bruiser...a good sign she is on the mend.
