Deconstruction and Reconstruction

We've mentioned on and off again that there's been a mouse in the coop.  Papa Hen has sealed up open corners with hardwire cloth, employed traps, and plugged mouse holes.  A visitor once saw a mouse in a chicken's beak!  A neighbor cat stalks one particular corner of the coop--from the outside.

Still the mouse lives.

On his birthday, Papa Hen decided to tackle the project head on.  He took out the floor of the coop, cleaned mouse poop, and shored up every possible mouse hole.  We sprinkled some Tenacious D (aka Diatomaceous Earth) on suspect areas.

Following are some confusing photos of the process.

Pine shavings removed.
 Linoleum removed.
 Mouse holes.
 More mouse holes.
Mouse poop.
Holes filled, cleaned up and new plastic netting and insulation.

Next Papa Hen added the wood and linoleum to reconstruct the floor.

Happy Birthday, Papa Hen!  (and thanks for your hard work!)
