Between the Garden Beds

The chickens spent a long afternoon in the chicken yard yesterday.  The soil is moist and wormy between the garden beds and that's one of the places they love to scratch.  You might see a couple of green tomatoes on the ground, a "gift" to the chickens after they had already pecked them while still part of the plant.

Our girl Bill, the matriarch, didn't care to spend time between the beds.  She preferred a spot in the sun.
The sunflower will show its face soon.
Some of our other sunflowers are starting to peek their faces out too.  In the background is our compost bin.
This lavender plant is one of my favorites.  The bees like it too.

And here is Mr. Honk-Honk, ready for a hike!
